Josiah Woodruff Sr., (1724-90) and Jr's family settled the area (1750s) at Westfield Twp., formed during 1794, then part of the Elizabethtown Tract. Westfield was formed from portions of Elizabeth Twp., while the area was still part of Essex County, NJ. The family cemetery is located at the Connecticut Farms Presbyt. Church Cem., 888 Stuyvesant Ave., Union Co., NJ , tel. 1-908/ 688-3164
