Amos Woodin was born 29 march 1753 in Hopewell, NY. His wife was Mary Wiltsie, who was born on 19 March 1760 in Hopewell, there were married 19 January 1775 in Fishkill, NY. He died in Victor, NY on 19 October 1842, and Mary died 5 September 1841 in Newark, NJ. He is the son of Timothy Woodin and Maria Parcout. They are both buried in Bushnell Basin, Monroe County, NY.
Amos while a resident of Sheffield, Massachusetts; enlisted and served in the Massachusetts troops, shown as follow: from sometime in June 1776, one and one half months as a minuteman in Capt. John King’s company; in June 1777, two weeks in Capt. John Hollebert’s company; from July 1, 1777, at various times until late in 1778, four months is all as sergeant in Capt. Nathan Benjamin’s company, Col. Ashley’s regiment. (from pension application: S.24022)

Abigail born 29 Dec 1790 in Oswego, NY and died 25 Jul 1819. Timothy born 6 Sep 1793 in Monroe, NY and died in 1835 in Warren, PA. Henry born 25 Oct 1797 in Columbia, NY and died in Sep 1881. Phoebe born 25 Jul 1802 in Columbia, NY and died 5 May 1804 in Columbia, NY. Peter born 20 Aug 1804 in New York and died in 1885 in Cass, La Porte, Indiana. Susannah born 29 Aug 1808 in Schoharie, NY and died 18 Nov 1857 in Sparta, Michigan.

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
