Pioneer Cemetery is located two blocks West of the intersection 14th and Main St. in Hopkinsville, KY. It is the first cemetery used in this community starting in 1797 and was used until the 1850's. Patriot Bartholomew Wood's grave site is near the left center of the cemetery

He served as a Pvt in COL RobertsonRobinson's Regt of SC Militia.
Martha Ann Wood, widow of Bartholomew Wood appeared in Christian Co., KY Court on 3 Nov 1845 and testified as to her spouse's service. She said he volunteered in Greenville District, SC in 1779 and served a six months tour as a PVT in COL Robertson or Robinson's Regt of SC Militia. She could not recollect the names of Company Capt. or other officers he served under. She also said she married him 20 Jul 1789 and he was soon called upon to serve again for three months. She said he served with his brother, John Wood who was already on the pension rolls for TN. She said Bartholomew died 27 Nov 1827 and she had not married since. Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
