Author: Reber Porter Kennedy Jr.
Daniel Williams (Jan 4, 1751 - July 16, 1831), (Ancestor # A125935) my GGGG Grandfather served in the 7th Company the 6th Regiment of the North Carolina Continental Line, as a Lieutenant from April, 1776 to April, 1777, and as a Captain until June, 1778. He served until the end of the war to 1781.
He insisted to be relieved because as he said, " my property lies in the power of the enemy". He fought under General George Washington, General Green, and Francis Marion.
He lived in Wilmington, NC and Duplin County NC, then moved to Dickson County Tennessee where he died and is buried in the Coleman Williams Cemetery.
He was granted 640 acres in the then state of NC on the SE side of the Harpeth River. He also received 2, 285 acres in Dickson County, Tennessee for his 50 months of service. His home still stands today next to his grave. His name is on a DAR monument erected in 1976 on the Dickson courthouse lawn. His life and family history,
"Daniel Williams and his Kin" by Rebecca Williams Harris, 1987, are included in my library and is the source for this information. (Reber P. Kennedy Jr.)
Send a biographical sketch of your patriot!
Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
