Oliver Willard was born on 13 October 1741 in Harvard, Worchester County, Massachusetts, the son of Henry and Abigail (Fairbanks) Willard.
During the American Revolution, Oliver served as a Private in the Company of Captain Deliverance Davis commanded by Colonel Asa Whitcomb of the Massachusetts Militia. They marched in response to the alarm of 19 April 1775 and served for ten days. On 17 December 1776, his name appeared on a receipt given to the Selectmen of Harvard for mileage of 180 miles for travel from Harvard to Danbury. There may have been other service, but it is unproven.
Oliver was married to Lucy Haskell on 29 May 1864 in Harvard, Massachusetts. His will names his wife Lucy and the following children:
Oliver Jr. was born on 24 October 1765.
Peter was born on 5 November 1767.
Lucy was baptized on 3 December 1769 and married Jacob Kendall.
Levi was baptized on 17 January 1773.
Betsey was baptized on 21 May 1775 and married Jacob Staples.
Simon was baptized on 29 June 1777.
Polly was baptized on 5 September 1779 and married Thomas Stebbins.
Abigail was born on 1 October 1783 and married to Abijah Hayward.
Joseph was born on 9 December 1788.
Oliver made his will on 17 April 1813 and it was proved in probate court on 21 May 1813. The Patriot died on 20 April 1813 and was buried at Brookside Cemetery in Chester, Vermont.

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
