Author: Robert Roy Thomas

James Wilder was born on 3 April 1742 in Leominster, Worcester County, Massachusetts, the son of Garner Wilder [Patriot P-329865].1 

He married Katherine Richardson on 6 May 1784 in Leominster, Worcester County, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of James Richardson [Patriot P-278553].2 Among their known children were:

James saw service during the American Revolution. An order from the Paymaster General, payable to Joseph Shurtleff, Quarter Master, endorsed on 15 July 1776 and signed by said James and others belonging to Captain Andrew Haskell's company, of Colonel Thomas Marshall's Regiment, for advance pay for one-month travel allowance, etc. He entered service in the company on 27 June 1776 and served for five months and six days, being discharged on 1 December 1776.3

The Patriot died on 3 April 1842 in Leominster, Worcester County, Massachusetts. His place of burial is unknown.
