David Wilder was born about 1708 in Lancaster, Worcester County, Massachusetts.1

He married Mrs. Anna (Willard) Prentice, widow of Thomas Prentice, on 10 June 1739 in Lancaster, Worcester County, Massachusetts.2 Among their known children were:

After Anna’s death, David married Mrs. Eunice Jennison in 1744. Among their known children were:

  • Samuel [DAR Patriot A126763] was born on 13 June 1745 and married Sarah “Sally” Ballard.
  • John was born on 20 March 1746 and lived in Templeton, Massachusetts, in 1777 in his father's Will. He is called a “gentleman,” indicating he was wealthy enough not to work with his hands.

After Eunice’s death, David married Martha White for the third time on 4 December 1751 in Lancaster, Massachusetts. Among their known children were:

  • Abel was born on 30 November 1752 and married Mary Paine.
  • Luke [Patriot P-319980] was born on 20 February 1754 and married Susanna Poor.

On 6 November 1776, David Wilder made his Last Will and Testament in Lancaster, Worcester County.3 With a large family, it is a long document. He starts by naming his wife, Martha, then names his children: David, Samuel, John, Abel, Luke, Jonathan, Jacob, and Mrs. Martha Carter. The Will was proven in court on 7 December 1776. Another document in the probate packet lists Martha Carter’s husband as John Carter.

The Patriot died on 17 November 1776 in Lancaster, Worcester County, Massachusetts. His place of burial is unknown.

Send a biographical sketch of your patriot!

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
