WHEATON, JONATHAN (Holmes County) [40.55180 -81.91037]

Born on June 26, 1755 in Bradford, Connecticut. Served in 7th Regiment enlisting as a private in Colonel Hinman's Regiment, during the first call of April and May, he registered monthly, and was recruited from Litchfield Co, Connecticut. At Ticonderoga, in June 1775, he took part in the Operations of the Northern Department and was mustered out December 1775. He enlisted again in 7th Regiment of Connecticut Line and was in Colonel Herman Swift Chapman's Company. On August 15, 1777 he enlisted for three years; was discharged April 6, 1779. He rejoined and was discharged August 4, 1780 from the Continental Army. He married Penelope Lacy (1756-1826) in 1778; children: Russell. He Resided in Hardy Township, OH. He Died on April 23, 1838 and buried in Old Millersburg Cemetery but body moved to Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg, Holmes Co., OH. 56th-77th Annual Reports DAR.
