Author: John McCoy
James Wheaton was a private in the MA Militia during the American Revolution. He served in Captain Israel Huks's Co, under Colonel Thomas Carpenter's Regiment at Tiverton, RI in defense of Providence, RI. His Revolutionary War experience is documented in the MA Soldiers & Sailors of the Revolutionary War (Vol 16) page 953.

James Wheaton was a descendant of Degory Priest of the Mayflower as documented in the Mayflower Families (Vol 8) pages 82-83.

James Wheaton was born on March 5, 1747-48 in Reholoth, Bristol County, MA and died on January 21, 1834 in Pomfret, Windham County, CT. He married Sarah Child and she was born in 1746 in MA, and died in 1809 in CT. Their children included their son Childs Wheaton who was born on January 21, 1775 in Pomfret, Windham County, CT as documented in the Pomfret CT Probate Records (Vol 18) pages 363-364.
