James Veazey b. 8/27/1727 d. 10/1/1789 WILKES COUNTY, GEORGIA
In 1776, he served in Lee's Legion of the Maryland Troops. He later served in the Georgia Militia. He died near Powelton, Georgia.
Buried: Headstone placed at Kettle Creek Battleground, Washington, Georgia. (His tombstone gives his birth and death dates as: Aug. 17, 1725 – Dec. 17, 1789.)

James Veasey (a.k.a. Veazey) was born Aug 27, 1727 in St. Stephens Parish, Cecil County, MD and lived in North Carolina as early as 1754. He married Elizabeth Veasey [Hollingsworth-Johnson] Aug. 30, 1746 in MD. James served in General George Washington’s Lee's Legion as a private from Mar 8, 1780 until Nov 1783. He died Oct 1, 1789 in Powelton, Hancock County, GA. His children are Zebulon Veasey, Mary Veasey, William Veasey, Ezekiel Veasey, Jesse Veasey, Francina Veasey and John Veasey.
