Author: Michael B. Gunn
Born on March 11, 1761. He served as a Private with New Hampshire & Massachusetts Line in Captain Spaulding’s Company of James Reid’s Regiment New Hampshire Line and also in Captain Daniel Shay’s Company of Rufus Putnam’s 5th Massachusetts Regiment in the Revolutionary War. He married Thankful__; children: Joseph, Thankful, Samuel, Marietta, Ruth and Mary. He applied for a pension on May 21, 1818 in Belmont County, OH. Reference Pension No. S40572. He died in 1835 and was buried at Crabapple Cemetery, Lot 128 Grave 1, Belmont County, Ohio. Cemetery notes and/or description: Crabapple Church and Cemetery are located in Wheeling Township, Belmont County, Ohio, about two miles south of New Athens and a short distance north of Uniontown. The first nucleus of the Crabapple Presbyterian Church was gathered as early as 1799 by Rev. Joseph Anderson. It is one of the oldest cemeteries in the county and is near the Harrison County border on Zeyer Road, CR 96, north of Uniontown, off SR 9, in an area of reclaimed strip mines. The original Presbyterian Church here was the first and largest in Wheeling Township. 56th-77th Annual Reports DAR. Senate documents (United States Congress, Senate).
