William Thomason b. 3/1751 d. 1844 TROUP COUNTY, GEORGIA
A native of Louisa County, Virginia, he first enlisted at Orange County, Virginia and served as a soldier in Captain Richard Ware's Company of the Virginia Militia commanded by Colonels Barr and Philip Pendleton. This regiment was stationed at Fort Pitt, at Fort Henry, and at various points along the Ohio River. He later moved to Henry County, Virginia and enlisted there and fought at the Siege of Yorktown. He then lived in Hancock and Troup Counties in Georgia and applied for a pension for his services in 1833 as a resident of Newton County. His claim was suspended because he did not serve the six months required for eligibility. He died in Washington County, Georgia.
Buried: Old William Thomason Family Cemetery, located on Land Lot #148 in the 4th District of Troup County, east of Whitesville Road, South of LaGrange, on old Thomason farm.

William Thomason Jr. was born March 1751 in Louisa County VA, son of William Sr. Thomason (Patriot) and an unknown 1st wife. William Jr. was married to an unknown wife by the time the war began, and had about five children. By the time a new nation was formed he had about 10 children. His service record was outlined in his 1833 pension application. He entered service in Orange County VA (his then resident county), September 2, 1780 into a Company under the command of Captain Richard Warr, Colonel Barber and Colonel Pendleton. He marched from VA to near Philadelphia, then returned home after three months. Next he served against the Tories in NC under Captain James Tarrance. In September, 1781 he entered service again under Captain Hill (Swinfield Hill ?) and Major Waller (George Waller ?); this call-up lasted until October 19, 1781. His last enlistment was with the Henry County Company at Seige of York (Yorktown) and the surrender of Lord Cornwallis. After the war, William moved into GA, living at Hancock, Newton & Troup counties. He died in 1844 at Washington County GA and is buried south of LaGrange, Troup County GA in the Thomason family cemetery.
