Michael Tedrow, the son of Michael, Sr, and Catherine (Reift) Tedrow, was born on 28 July 1760 in Pennsylvania.

Michael married in 1787 to Mary Catherine King (1769 – 1809), the daughter of Christopher King and Rachel Leech. They had nine known children. They were:

  • Sarah was born in 1784 and married Christian Phillippi.

The 1789 Pennsylvania Tax and Exoneration Report for York County has Michael living in Warrington Township. He pays taxes on 150 acres, three horses, and four cows.

He moved to Milford Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, in 1789 or 1790 because he was enumerated in the 1790 US Federal Census at that locale. He and his father, identified as Michael Tedrow, Jr. and Michael Tedrow, Sr., are listed in the 1796 Milford Township Tax assessment.

An Administration Bond for $3,000 on the estate of Michael Tedrow was recorded on 30 June 1818. He died in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, before 17 February 1818, since that date is recorded in the body of the filing.3

Send a biographical sketch of your patriot!

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
