John Strang was born 18 Oct 1753 in Yorktown, Westchester, NY. He was the son of Francis and Elizabeth (Hyatt) Strang. He married 1st Drusilla Oakley (13 Aug 1750-17 Mar 1794), 2nd Jane Fowler (d. 07 Jun 1830), dau of Moses and Mary (Brundage) Fowler. He had James, Mary, Catherine, John, Sylvanus, Hannah, Elizabeth, Jerusha, Druzilla. He died 23 Mar 1809 in Crumpond, Westchester, NY. His service included was as a Private in Westchester Co, NY Militia under Col. Drake. His will is dated Mar 17 1809 and probated Mar 27 1809. He is buried at Yorktown NY.
