Qualifying Service Description:
  1. 1777-1780, served as a Lieutenant and Paymaster under Colonel Rufus Putnam, Continental Army.
  2. 1781, Captain-Lieutenant under Colonel Putnam.
  3. 1781, Paymaster by order of General Heath
  4. 1781, commissioned a Captain by the order of Governor John Hancock.

He Enlisted as Private in the Lexington Alarm. Served throughout the war and Commissioned as 1st Lieut. in Capt. Jesse Stone's 9th co. (o. of South Parish, Worcester), Col. Samuel Denny's first Worcester regt. of Mass. militia. Served during Mar 28, 1776 thru Apr., 1776; again served Sept, 1777 thru Nov 29, 1777, 3 mos. and 7 days and received rations last on Dec 9, 1777, Commissioned Captain on June 22, 1781.
