Author: James Hollis Taylor, Jr
Peter Stevens was born at South Kingston on 16 December 1731, and married Sarah Hurd and later to Lucy Ann Jackson. During 1777 he enlisted as a private in the 6th Regiment (New England Militia), then served in the 19th Connecticut Regiment commanded by COL William Douglas raised for New Milford, Fairfield County. He fought at the Danbury Raid and was wounded at the capture of Danbury. He never recovered and died from the effects a year later on 6 August 1779. He is buried in an unknown cemetery at New Milford, CT.
