Born in 1761 son of William. He Served as a Private 5th Class from Salisbury Twp., Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania, in Capt. William Brisben's 8th Company, 1781 1st Battalion, Lancaster Co Militia. He married 1) Unknown, 2) Jane Osburn (1775-1851) in 1811; children: 1) William, Margaret, Joseph, Basil Lee, Thomas & Samuel. 2) Martha, Jane, Matthew, Alexander & Susan. William was a farmer in Archer Township and a member of the Ridgeview Presbyterian Church. He Died in 1827 and Buried at Ridgeview Cemetery, Hanover Ridge Road, Scio, Harrison Co., OH 43986. Cemetery notes and/or description: The cemetery is located on west side of Hanover Ridge Road (County Road 17) at its intersection with Keyser Road (Township Road 239). The cemetery was established in 1818 and is 2.02 acres in size. The cemetery is maintained by the Archer Township Trustees. The cemetery is located in Archer Township, Harrison County, Ohio. Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
