Qualifying Service Description:
  1. He served as a Private in the Company of Captain Abner Howell of the Washington County, MD Militia
  2. In 1781, he paid a supply tax in support of the war effort
  3. Suffered depridation, 1781

  • Old upright stone with German inscription that's been incased in cement. The orignial portion of the stone appears to be contemporary with the death of the Patriot. In a couple of the Find-A-Grave photos are shown with a misplaced GAR Civil War Vet stake marker

Born on February 2, 1741 Maryland to parents Johan(1718-1788) and Elizabeth Diehl (1715-1806) Simon. He served as a Pvt Capt Graham's Company, New York Line. He Married 1) Anna Schmeltzer (1740-1791), 2) Anna Mohr, 3)Gertrude Schmidt (1750- 1837); Children: Elizabeth, Margaretha, Barbara, Michael, Maria, Esther, Catherina, Johan Adam, George, Peter, Andrew, Jacob, Daughter, Abraham, and Henry Simon.. He Died on May 20, 1839 and Buried at (Pleasant Grove) Lake Park Cemetery, 1459 E Midlothian Blvd., Youngstown, Mahoning Co., OH 44507 in the western part. Ref : NY in the Rev State Archives, p 188, Trumbull and Mahoning Co Hist, Vol 2, p 85. Roster of Revolutionary War soldiers buried in Ohio. Wilbur R. Branthoover, compiler. Veterans Affairs, Ohio.
