Born on June 13, 1752 in Baden Baden, Germany. He served in the Pennsylvania Militia, under Captain James Wright’s Company of the Youghegenia Militia of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania commanded by Colonel John Stevenson in 1778, also in Captain George Sharp’s Company, Washington County, Pennsylvania Militia. He married Mary Margaretha ___ (1758-1816); children: Daniel, Michael, George all died in infancy, Mary Margaret, Eve, Barbara, Kate, Polly, Elizabeth, Samuel, Christena, Sisie, Sally and John. He came to America in 1766 and settled in Washington County, Pennsylvania where he lived during the War. In 1800 they moved to Ohio and settled on land in Tuscarawas County that became Carroll County, OH. For saving the life of his officer he was given a medal and 12 quarter sections of land deeded to him by the President of the United State of America. He died on June 12, 1818 at 66 years of age and originally buried at family cemetery between Sherrodsville and New Cumberland, OH where his wife was buried in 1816; in 1912 both remains were transferred to the New Cumberland Cemetery, Tuscarawas County, OH.
