William Shelton Sr. - ACN57225
William Shelton Sr. was born about 1709 in Henrico County, VA. He was a descendant of John de Shelton (born about 1180) and his brother Peter who were among the rebelling barons who forced King John of England to sign the Magna Carta in 1215. He married Patience Thomas about 1730 in Albemarle County, VA. William Shelton Sr. signed the Albemarle County, VA Declaration of Independence. He received public service claims in Albemarle County, VA for providing corn, oats, rye, hay, fodder, mutton, bacon, whiskey, 675 pounds of beef, a heifer, and other supplies. His will was probated in Albemarle County, VA in 1789.
