JAMES SEATON IN THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR 1781-1782 – Ohio and Monongalia Rivers James Seaton served in the Third Company, First Battalion, Pennsylvania Militia, 1781-1782 under Captain William Crawford; this Militia from the District lying upon the Monongalia River between Whiteley and Muddy Creek's 15 Oct 1781, or the Monongalia District, Fort Pitt area. The roster included: Capt. William Crawford, Lieut. Richard Seaton, Ensign Francis Seaton, Clk. James Seaton, the other Seaton being James Seaton's younger brothers (Brown 190A-B; Montgomery 165; applications NSSAR Patriot Index). His brother, Sgt. George Seaton also served on the frontier, his sister Elizabeth's husband, Major James Carmichael, and sister Sarah Kenner Seaton's husband John Boreman as Asst Paymaster General quartered at Fort Pitt (Pittsburgh). The principal foe here was Indians activated by the British. James Seaton was the grandson of Margaret Eskridge Kenner, also a DAR and SAR Patriot. SOURCES Brown, H. Andrew. .
