Author: Dr. Michael Bernard Gunn
He was born in 1758 in Monmouth County, New Jersey to father Garret Coertse Schenck. In 1776 he served as a Private several enlistments, different commands. He Married Jane Vankins (1769-1834); Children : Eleanor b. 1790 & Jane. He was pensioned in 1832 in Warren Co for Pvt, N. J. Mil. He died on August 24, 1839, in Franklin Township, Warren County, Ohio. He was buried in Woodhill Cemetery, Section 11, Lot 53, Grave 4, 6520 Hamilton-Middletown Road, Franklin, OH with a Government marker. Cemetery Notes: Located North side of State road 73, 1 mile South of Franklin, Warren County, OH, 45005. The cemetery is an active cemetery over 100 acres in size. The cemetery was established as a private corporation about 1856. In 1882, the cemetery was taken over by the Franklin Township Trustees, who now own and operate the cemetery.
