Euclides Scarborough (NSDAR 327618) was born in 1714 in Middletown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, the son of William Scarborough (b. 1691 in Bucks County, PA) and Alice Longshore (b. Before 1693 in Philadelphia County, PA). It is believed that he was named for his mother’s brother Euclides Longshore. In 1744, He married Mary (possibly Dean) (b. circa 1722, Possibly in Belfast, Ireland) in Solebury Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Euclides and five of his sons served in the American Revolution as Privates. Four sons (John, William, Euclides Jr., and Thomas) served in the Maryland Militia1 while his son Isaac Scarborough (NSDAR 327618) served in the Pennsylvania Militia during the Revolutionary War. Euclides served in Captain John Patrick's Company No. 17 (April 1, 1776)1. Euclides served at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania from 1777 to 1778 with George Washington. Euclides’ name is on a metal Memorial Plaque at Valley Forge National Park.3 Euclides was a Wheelwright, Blacksmith, and a Farmer2. Shown by the 1790 census as living on adjoining tracts in Harford County are: Euclides Scarborough, Sr.; Euclides Scarborough, Jr., John Scarborough, Samuel Scarborough, Joseph Scarborough, Thomas Scarborough, and William Scarborough. Euclides and Mary had 11 children.
