located north of McDowell, Virginia. Take Route 654 to Route 629 and then to Route 624. Go left through a wooden gate to pasture, up over ridge and slightly to the right on side of mountain. The patriot has a pillow type tombstone that is hard to see. This information was recorded by Emma Matheny in the early 1970s

George Rymer was born at Brixton, Surrey, England about 1755, a son of George Rymer, Sr., and Sarah Dodgson. He immigrated to America in 1772. He married Nellie Murphy in 1783 while living at Augusta County, Virginia. He and Nellie had five children together. Nellie passed away in 1825 at the age of 71 years. George married Delila Davis in 1829 at Pendleton County, Virginia. They had four children together.
While living at Augusta County, Virginia, Rymer enlisted in the Virginia Militia in 1780 as a private for a tour ofthree months to fight the British. He was in a company commanded by Captain Gibbons and also served under Captains Bell and Buckhannon. He served his three months and was discharged at Guilford Courthouse. He returned home to Augusta County. In the fall of 1781, he was drafted again and marched to Richmond in a company of Militia commanded by Captain Buckhannon in the regiment of Colonel Samuel Vance. He was discharged at Winchester, Virginia.
He applied for and received a Revolutionary War Pension while a resident of Pendleton County, Virginia, in 1834. George passed away 30 November 1845, at Highland County, Virginia. He was buried at the Beverage Cemetery at Monterey, Highland County.
