SOLOMON RYE, North Carolina 1748 – 1819, Dickson County, Tennessee
Solomon Rye received a land grant in Anson County in 1780. During the Revolutionary War, he was issued pay vouchers for services in Anson County, North Carolina in 1782. He received a land grant in 1784, and purchased the Barnaby Skipper Plantation in Anson County in 1784. In 1798, he sold his land in North Carolina and moved to Marlborough County, South Carolina where he remained until 1811. After selling his South Carolina land, he moved to Dickson County, Tennessee. In 1813, he bought land east of Yellow Creek, below the mouth of Great Cave, near Ruskin. On February 18, 1814, Solomon deeded one acre to the Methodist/Episcopal Church called Shiloh and later called Old Union Church.
He was married in 1783 to Sarah UKN, (1752-15 Aug 1818). Their children were William, Solomon II (1783-1855) (Elizabeth), Martha, and Sarah B. In 1819, Solomon died and left his land to his sons Solomon II and William.

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
