Captain Johannes Reuff who is also known as John Roof was probably the owner of Fort Stanwix in Tryon County, which was to become Montgomery County and a part of which is now Oneida County, NY, he is listed as a Captain at the Battle of Oriskany at Fort Stanwix. He later was a Captain of Exempts at Canajoharie. DAR#A097319
