Author: Michael B. Gunn

Born in 1741 in Pennsylvania, Joseph Rogers served as an officer in Gen. Morgan's Rifle Regiment at the taking of Burgoyne at Saratoga. He died in 1791 and is buried at Mound Cemetery, 5th and Scammel Streets, Marietta, Washington County, Ohio 45750. His monument inscription reads, "Capt. Joseph Rogers." His grave has a government marker placed by the Marietta Chapter, dated November 30, 1906; it has an SAR marker, and his name is on a DAR plaque.
