RITCHHART, CHRISTIAN (Ross County) [39.48306 -83.01613] Christian was born in 1737 or 1744 in Oberhoffen, Switzerland. He served in the Dunmore (now Shenandoah) County Virginia Militia and served in Captain Jacob Holeman’s Company. He married 1) Maria Elizabeth Pentz/Pence (1748-1803) on December 1, 1767 in Berk County, Pennsylvania, They came to Ross County. Ohio before his indenture deed of 1803 to Elisabeth and Philip Minear. Later, in Ross County, Ohio, he married 2) Sophia Timmons who was a widow; children: Maria Elisabeth b. 1768, Christian/Christly b. 1770, Mary Magadilina b. 1776, Jacob b. 1778, John b. 1782, Henry b. 1782, Barbara b. 1783, Catherine b. 1785, Abraham b. 1786, Frederick b.1805 and Anne b. 1807. He died before February 2, 1807 in Union Township, Ross County, Ohio. ,Christian is buried in the Springbank Cemetery, Yellowbud, located North of Chillicothe on State Route 104 in Union Township, Ross County, Ohio 45601. Cemetery Notes: Springbank is an active cemetery on route 104 in Ross County. It is well cared for. Close to the Ross and Pickaway County line, just beyond the little community of Yellowbud. The cemetery is located in Union Township, Ross County, Ohio. Has a VA tombstone, an SAR & 1776 marker.
