Served under Captain James Irvine's Company, 2nd Battalion and Philadelphia Company, Militia 8th Class as Private during the Revolutionary War. Pennsylvania Archives, 6th Series, Volume 1, pages 670 and 932.
ABRAHAM REX was the son of Hans Jurg and Barbara Rex was born at Germantown 7 November 1735 and died there 7 February 1793 according to his gravestone in St. Michael's Churchyard. He and Anna Bastian were married 26 July 1759 according to the register of St. Michael's and Zion Church in Phi1adelphia, Pennsylvania. She was daughter of Christopher Bastian. Anna Rex died 17 November 1824 and was buried next to her husband. Abraham's portion of the original Rex holdings at Germantown included part of the 60 acres purchased from William Harmer and the original 27 acres purchased from Claus Braun in 1720. In 1779 the following notice was published: "Sales of sundry confiscated estates in the City of Philadelphia, Wednesday August 25, 1779, Abraham Rex, value of property £2,820. Abraham was listed in 1780 as a member of the Germantown Upper District Company in the Philadelphia County Militia. In the 1790 Federal Census he was listed as head of family at Germantown. He died intestate and the administration was granted to Anna Rex, widow and relict:
John Rex, taylor
Enoch Rex, blacksmith;
John Huston, all of Germantown.
The relict Ann Rex's will names all their surviving children.

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
