Johan George Reitz, son of Johannes Peter and Magdalena (Weygand) Reitz, was born at Lohrhaupten, Gelnhausen, Hessen-Nassau, Germany, Feb 3, 1726. Lohrhaupten, 40 miles east of Frankfurt-on-the-Main, Germany. George Reitz/Ritz came to Philadelphia on the Ship Duke of Bedford and was qualified September 14, 1751.
Jan.1755 a warrant was granted to George Stump for land next to George Right Berks Co., PA. 1767/1768 - George paid taxes Bethel Twp., Berks Co. 1769 - George and his wife (Anna Martha) sponsored a child for baptism at Altahala Church, Rehrersburg, Berks Co. 1772/1773 – Land warrants issued to George in Northumberland Co., PA. 1776-1781 - George and family were communicants at Himmels Church, Northumberland Co.
George was member of the Northumberland County, PA Committee of Safety.
George & Anna Martha Reitz’s children: 1. Heinrich Reitz; possible four marriages to Elanor ?; an Unknown; Barb?; and Dorthea Ferster or Forester. 2. Maria Elizabeth Reitz b- 1753; married Captain Johan Peter Ferster. 3. Andrew (Andreas) Reitz b-Jan-1-1755, d Mar-16-1837; married Marie Margaretha Brosius.
Andrew’s Family was living in Berks County in 1755. This area became Northumberland County in 1772. Andrew received a patent for the farm that his father received a land warrant for in 1772 in Mahanoy Twp., Northumberland County (later became Upper Mahanoy Twp. and then became part of Washington Twp.). Andrew was a Pvt with Benjamin Weiser’s Company of Northumberland PA County Militia. Andrew’s tomb stone is in the first row at Himmles Cemetery near the state road.

Johan Nicholas Reitz/Wrights in Ohio b- Mar 12, 1785, d- Feb 3, 1865 in Miami County, Ohio; married Margaretha Bressler @1807. V. Catharine Reitz b-Oct 24, 1786, d-Jun 25, 1854; married Georg Phillip Hetrick VI. Maria Eva/Eve Reitz b- Apr 4, 1788, d Nov 8, 1863; married Daniel Gonsar Sr. VII.
