The following biography of Joseph Reed was published anonymously at findgrave.com.  I am not the author.

 

Married Jeanette Brotherton Jan. 23, 1765. Insciption at CrossCreek Presb.Cem.,Wa. Co. PA: "In memory of Jeanette Reed, who departed this life January the 27th, 1838, in the 93rd year of her age. Her husband, Col. Joseph Reed, of Chansford, York County, Pa., was a brave old soldier of the Revolution. He was a member of the Convention that met at Carpenter's Hall June 18th, 1776, which hastened Congress in passing the Declaration of Independence, the 4th of July, 1776. He was at Valley Forge in the winter of 1777, was a Judge, an innkeeper, sawmill owner and operated a ferry across the Susquehanna River. He died in 1804, aged 71 years, & is buried in Chansford churchyard,York Co. Pa.
