1778, he served in the Minuteman company of Captain Enoch Weatherhead, commanded by Colonel John Mathewson's Regiment.

Henry Ray was born on 11 February 1728/1729 in Wrentham, Norfolk, Massachusetts, to Samuel and Miriam (Smith) Ray.
He served in Captain Enoch Weatherhead's Company, Colonel John Mathewson's Regiment, during the Alarm of Providence 1778
Henry married on 21 May 1752 in Cumberland, Providence County, Rhode Island, to Hannah Jenckes, who was born on 1 November 1732. Their known children are:
Susannah was born in 1752 and died young.
Daniel was born in 1753 and married 1) Rebecca Scott, 2) Lucy Bennett, and 3) Hannah Aldrich.
Phebe was born on 31 December and married 1) John Phillips and 2) Benjamin Dexter.
Nancy was born in 1757 and married William Follett.
Hannah was born in 1759 and married John Bly.
Jonathan was born in 1760 and married Elizabeth Wood.
Sarah was born in 1764 and married William Whipple.
David was born in 1766 and married Sarah Jenckes.
Isaac was born in 1764 and died young.
He is recorded as living in Cumberland, Rhode Island, in the 1774 Rhode Island colonial census, the 1777 Rhode Island military census, the 1782 Rhode Island state census, and the 1790 and 1800 federal censuses. He moved to Cumberland shortly after his marriage and is described as a wheelwright. He owned 15- acres on the Mendon Road in Cumberland.
The Patriot died on 18 April 1804 in Cumberland, Rhode Island, and was buried in lot 1, Ballou Cemetery, Cumberland, Rhode Island. His wife, Hannah, died on 25 November 1794.

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
