PRENTISS, STAUNTON, CAPT., born on Nov 17, 1750, Lancaster, Mass. Parents Dr. Stanton Prentiss and Mary Jennison. He served as a Capt and wagonmaster with Massachusetts in the Revolutionary War, believed to have been a prisoner aboard the British Ship The Old Jersey. He Married Mary Fowler; children: Royal, Stanton & Genison. He Died on July 26, 1836, Marietta, OH and Buried at Mound Cemetery, 5th& Scammel Streets, Marietta, Washington Co., OH 45750. MI: "Stanton Prentiss, 1750-1836". GM Marietta Chap with Revolutionary marker and on gateway, Nov. 30, 1906 ; marker stolen and replaced in 1920. Served as Wagon master in Lafayette's army. Fur infor Marietta Chap. Revolutionary War Graves Register. Clovis H. Brakebill, compiler. 672pp. SAR. 1993. Also SAR Revolutionary War Graves Register CD. Progeny Publishing Co: Buffalo, NY. 1998; SAR Patriot Index Edition III (CD: PP2210, Progeny Publ., 2002) plus data to 2004. Has a tombstone & SAR Marker.
