Thomas Phillips was born January 25, 1712 at East Bristol County, Massachusetts, son of John Phillips and Elizabeth Drake. He married Katherine Liscom on January 22, 1736 at Stoughton, Massachusetts. They had ten children, including sons, Phillip, Simeon. Thomas Jr., Caleb and Russell Phillips, and daughters, Ketura, Charity, Elizabeth, Sarah, Rachel and Dorcas Phillips. He was one of the original settlers of Ashfield, Massachusetts, where he served as Selectman in 1766. In 1776 he was Surveyor of Highways.
He died October 25, 1791 in Ashfield, Massachusetts.
