Alphonse Perret was born along the German Coast of Saint Charles Parish, Louisiana, October 20, 1757, a son of Alphonse Auguste Perret and Mare Anne Pujol. His grandfather, Jean Baptiste Perret, was originally from the Dauphine region of Southeastern France.
Alphonse Perret was a second lieutenant of the Grenadiers in the Second Company and First Battalion of the German Coast Militia. In this capacity, he fought with General Galvez in several expeditions against the British along the lower Mississippi River. His brother, Pujol, was also an officer in the militia.
He married Genevieve Rosalie Daspit Saint Amand, February 28, 1778. They were the parents of nine children. Alphonse Perret married Madeleine Eleanor Bossier, October 21, 1789. They were the parents of six children.
Alphonse Perret died March 19, 1818. He was buried at the Saint John the Baptist Cemetery of Edgard, Louisiana.
