It is considered a research aid and is intended to assist in locating sources that can be used as proof.
From the Revolutionary War Pension Application of Anthony Perkins:
State of Kentucky } SS
Madison County }
On this 13th day of August 1832 personally appeared in open Court before William Goodloe, James Dejarnette & George Alcorn Justices of the County Court in and for the County aforesaid now sitting Anthony Perkins a resident of said County aged 74 or 75 years, who being first duly sworn according to the Law, doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the act of Congress passed June 7th 1832. That he entered the service of the United States under the following named officers and served as herein stated. That he entered the service and served a tour of six months in the militia from Louisa County Virginia under Capt [Richard] Philips, Generals [Anthony] Wayne and Demarcus [Marquis de Lafayette] Commanding. That he served a part of this tour in the Infantry General Mulenburg [Peter Muhlenberg] commanding, That he is illiterate and does not recollect the years he served, That he was marched from Louisa County to old Richmond, Williamsburg, Spotsylvania, Loudoun, Culpeper, Bolingreen [Bowling Green, Charlotte County] and to diverse other places in pursuit of the enemy. That they heard of them frequently but never came to an engagement. That the militia was laid off into divisions and after the expiration of this first six months as aforesaid he was again called into service and served a tour of Four months, under a Capt White, the same Generals commanding, that he was as before stated, marched again from place to place in the state of Virginia in pursuit of the enemy, and did not remain stationed at any one place during either of said Tours, more than from one to Three weeks, that he was stationed once for three weeks at New Kent Court house, that he served one other Tour of either four or six months he does not recollect which, in the same manner before stated, under a Capt Johnson, the same General officers Commanding. That he has no documentary evidence of his services, nor does he know of any person by whom he can prove the same except his brother Sam’l Perkins who is four years younger than himself, and served with him all three Tours. — He hereby relinquishes every claim whatever to a pension or annuity except the present and declares that his name is not on the Pension roll of the agency of any state.

NOTE: John Hunter deposed that he had been a neighbor to Anthony Perkins and knew that he served in 1777 or 1778.

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format.
