ARSONS, BALDWIN (BYLDWIN) (Harrison County) [40.1802 -80.8124]
Born in 1752 in Virginia. He served as an Ensign, later Captain in the Virginia Militia, with James Parson’s Company from Hampshire County in 1778, he was a member of Crawford’s Expedition to Upper Sandusky in 1782 and took part in building forts McIntosh and Laurens. He married Rachel Parks; children: Jonathan, Andrew, Isaac, Charles, Thomas, Ann, Nancy, Barbara, Pemboly, Rachel, Mary and Elizabeth. He lived with his parents prior to 1781, was next in Hopewell Twp., Washington County, PA; Ohio County, VA in Brooke County, VA in 1782; He arrived in Short Creek Township, Harrison County, OH in 1803 and lived there until his death. Baldwin built Parson’s, later Hagan’s Mill on the Short Creek this and his farm and his burial site are in Section 1, Township 9, Range 4 in Short Creek Twp., Harrison County, OH. He died on March 28, 1811 on that farm but has no Stone or marker. Hamilton J. Eckenrode, compiler, Virginia Soldiers of the American Revolution, Volume I. Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
