Qualifying Service Description:
  1. At the age of 16 he went into the Revolutionary Army as a substitute for his father who was drafted from Baltimore County
  2. He was in the battle of Yorktown and saw the flag of Lord Cornwallis go down and witnessed his surrender
  3. He also served with William H. Crawford against the Indians in the state of Ohio and in battle was severely wounded
