Mathias King was born about 1734 in Germany to Johann Adam Koenig and his wife Maria Magdalena Keyser. Mathias immigrated to America arriving in Philadelphia aboard the ship “Janet” on 07 Oct. 1751. He settled in Nazareth Township, Northampton County, PA.
In 1753 he married Eva Christiana Hartzel. Together they had 11 children, 9 of which lived to adult hood.. He helped build and supported the Reformed and Lutheran (Drylands) Church in Hecktown.
During the Revolution, Mathias served as a Private and Corporal in the Northampton County PA. Militia.
About 1791 Mathias and family moved to Mount Pleasant Township, Westmoreland County, PA.
Mathias King died 31 July, 1810 and is buried in Mt Pleasant Township. His family erected a monument honoring him in St. Michaels Lutheran Church Cemetery located in Brick Church, Armstrong Co. PA.
