Henry was born approximately 1746 in Germany. He met Mary Amelia Pierce (who was born 1744)and they married in Germany. It is believed the married in 1759. He, with his wife and children immigrated to America in 1764, settling in what is now Page County, Virginia on the western slope of the Blue Ridge Mountains. He was a house carpenter who became a farmer in what is now known as Page County, VA. They were the parents of six children. Magdalene Molly born 1760, Barbara Elizabeth born 1762, Adam born 1765, Johannes (John) born 1766, Philip born 1768 and Martin Luther born 1772. Henry did not fight in the Revolutionary War. His family donated mutton and money to the cause. He died 9 Sep 1796 in Shenandoah County (now known as Page County) Virginia. Mary died 12 Jun 1799. His grave was marked by the DAR 4 May 1981.

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
