Martin Key, Jr. was born in 1752 in Amherst County, Virginia, and died between 1806 and 1814 in the same county.

He married Nancy Pollard on 17 December 1773 in Amherst County, Virginia. His father was Martin Key, Sr., and his mother was Nancy Ann Bibb.

Martin Key, Jr. and Nancy Pollard had three children: Jane Mills Key, John Key, and Martin Key.

Martin Key, Jr. served as Second Lieutenant in Capt. Joh Keys Company.
