Author: Charles Edward Real

Nicholas Keefer was born in 1734 in Langenselbold, Hesse Principality, in modern-day Germany. He was a Hessian soldier who served in the American Revolution. As a child, his family brought him to the Pennsylvania colony in 1735. His family settled in Hamilton Township, Franklin County.

Nicholas married Veronica Steinbrenner in 1754, and their known children included:

  • Elizabeth was born on 3 January 1760 and married to Patriot Jacob Faust.

Nicholas Keefer's patriotic service included signing the Oath of Allegiance in 1778 and paying the supply tax in the same year.

The Patriot died on 8 July 1815 in Hamilton Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania.
