Born on September 6, 1741. He served as a Drum Major on the Virginia Line, enlisted in Frederick County, Virginia for term of one year in a Rifle Company commanded by Colonel Daniel Morgan at Winchester, VA in the fall of 1775 and was marched to Quebec under Arnold, was taken prisoner and sent to New York for exchange and discharged. He then enlisted for a three year term as a Drum Major in Captain Peter Bruen’s Company, 7th Virginia Regiment commanded by Colonel Morgan in the spring of 1776, his unit changed from the 11th to the 7th and were in the battles of Quebec, Brandywine, Germantown, Monmouth, Stoney Point, White Plains and the taking of Cornwallis. He married Eve Aldridge (1755-_); children: Mary. He lived in Warm Springs, VA in 1790 having moved from Frederick County, Virginia. Then was in Belmont County, OH in 1811. Widow was pensioned, applying on January 29, 1839 in Belmont County, OH Ref W7459. Robert applied for a pension on April 10, 1818 in Morristown, Belmont County, OH. Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
