Thomas Mills was born on 7 January 1761 in Dunbarton, New Hampshire.
He was a Private in Captain Samuel McConnel’s Company in Colonel Thomas Stickney’s Regiment of New Hampshire Militia in General John Stark’s Brigade, which joined the Continental Army at Bennington and Stillwater from July to September 1777. He stayed several weeks after the Battle of Bennington to tend the wounded men.
He married Mary Caldwell in Goffstown, New Hampshire, on 9 February 1786. Their known children, born in Dunbarton:
Betsey was born on 03 January 1789.
Peggy was born on 16 May 1790.
Tamar was born on 6 December 1792.
Sally was born on 2 January 1796.
Thomas was born on 07 May 1798.
Thankful was born on 17 June 1800.
Ruth was born on 9 July 1802.
Emily was born on 15 April 1805.
The Patriot died on 5 November 1848, at the age of 87, and was buried in Dunbarton Center Cemetery in Dunbarton.
