John Milam, Jr.    b. 6/12/1753    d. 10/26/1838    (MADISON COUNTY, GEORGIA)

In 1776, he enlisted as a private and later as an Orderly Sergeant in Captain Nathaniel Cocke's Company in the 7th Virginia Regiment commanded by Colonel Nelson. He marched to Valley Forge and was in a skirmish at Schuykill. In 1778, he re-enlisted for four months in Captain Edmond King's Company under Major Alexander Rose in the Virginia Troops and fought at the Siege of Ninety-Six. He later received a pension.
