Robert Mercer assisted in the cause of independence by rendering material aid.

He was born on July 19, 1741 in Chester County, Pennsylvania to Robert Mercer and Olive.

On February 17, 1766, he married Elizabeth Brown (daughter of John Brown and Elizabeth Mercer). They had seven sons and eight daughters.

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format.
