Qualifying Service Description:
  1. Member of the Committee of Philadelphia
  2. Coronet in the First City Troop of Philadelphia Cavalry
  3. Appointed by Congress as Commissary for Continental Troops raised in Pennsylvania, 25 January 1776; also recognized as serving as paymaster
  4. Appointed as the first Clothier-General of the American Army (enacted by Congress; appointed by Gen. George Washington), 10 January 1777
  5. Held this non-military rank position of Clothier-General until July1779, when the Clothing Department was reorganized
