James Meadows served as a Private in Capt. Garland Burnley’s Company and Col. Frances Taylor’s regiment of the Virginia Continental troops for 2 and 1/2 years, and reenlisted in Col.John Rush’s regiment for three additional months.

James Meadows was allowed a pension of $80 per year when he applied on Sept 17, 1832 at the age of 72 years.
