George Mclean was born 14 Oct 1760 in Lincoln County, NC. He married Rebecca Alexander in Mecklenburg County 25Jan1781. George died 30Nov1834 in Bedford County TN.

George served several tours with NC militia units beginning July 1780. His commanders were Colonels John Barber, William Graham, William Campbell, and Robert Smith. He was in skirmishes at Raft Swamp and Brick House .After the Battle of Kings Mountain, George guarded prisoners and escorted the wounded to Greenlee’s Ford (Morganton).

George’s brother, William McLean functioned as corpsman for Kings Mountain wounded patriots, became a doctor, and erected the battlefield monument to four Lincoln County patriots killed there.

Remarks: McLean was with rangers from Colonel John Barber’s militia near Kings Mountain during the battle. They assisted for a few days afterward.
