Qualifying Service Description:
  1. 23 Mar 1776, enlisted.
  2. 1778-1779, he served as a Private in the company of Captain Oliver Towles, commanded by Colonel William Thompson.
  3. 1779-1780, served in the company of Captain Jesse Baker Company, commanded by Lieutenant-Colonel Henderson of the 1st Regiment.

Martin Martin was born about 1745 in South Carolina.

He married Isabella Graham, and they had the following known children:

  • Jane was born in 1782 and married John Martin of Scotland.
  • Alexander was born in 1789 and married Loretta (surname unrecorded)
  • William H. was born on 18 July 1795 and married Elizabeth Daniels.
  • Angus was born about 1796 and married Margaret Daniels.
  • Sarah was born on 15 March 1797 and married Simon Fraser.

In 1779, he served as a Private in the company of Captain Oliver Towles, commanded by Colonel William Thompson of the 3rd Regiment of the South Carolina Line. He later served in Captain Jesse Baker's Company of the 6th Regiment. After the war, he received bounty land for his services.

The Patriot died on 1 April 1812 in Liberty County, Georgia. He is believed to have been buried in Midway Churchyard.
